There are many varieties of spiritual gifts available to us and we may acquire and utilise any number of these. You may already have them and not realise it, so I thought I would share some of them with you as having a point of reference will assist in the enlightenment process and help with any fear we may be feeling about our gifts.
When a person begins to awaken to their true self and divine potential, spiritual or psychic gifts will begin to emerge and develop. Therefore, I wanted to share some info on the different kind of ‘Clairs’ that describe some of these abilities. ‘Clair’ is from the French language and means ‘clear’. There are a number of ‘Clairs’ that we all have the ability to use.
The term we all recognise the most is clairvoyance. ‘Voyance’ means ‘vision’, so clairvoyance means clear vision. A psychic vision is a term used to describe the way that those who are clairvoyant receive messages from their spirit guides. It usually begins with very short periods where you actually see things. It is possible you may be able to see a ‘picture’ of some sort, however the more you develop this gift the more detailed the vision will be & the amount of time you will ‘see’ it.
Clairsentience means clear feeling. It has quite a lot in common with intuition, because it a strong awareness that you feel inside yourself about the subject you are concentrating on. Generally the term refers to a person who can feel the vibration of other people. There are many different degrees of clairsentience ranging from the perception of diseases to the thoughts or emotions of other people. Another closely related psychic gift is psychometry. This is when you sense something about an object while touching it. If you are developing your intuition, you may find that clairsentience or psychometry develop at the same time.
Clairaudience means clear hearing. This is my favourite as this is the main way I connect! Clairaudience may start when you are very young or during meditation. You may hear a voice speaking to you, or you may hear other sounds. This may be your guides or other angelic beings communicating with you. These sounds have been labelled astral sounds, as they originate from the astral plane. Clairaudience often starts by hearing a voice and/or a message in your head. Some people find when they first hear noises think they are going crazy and may wonder if the mind is playing tricks! At the start, this can be very confusing & scary. It is only with practice that you can tell which are your thoughts and which are your guides/angels. Note: If you are unsure at all and the noises are worrying, please consult a medical practitioner to be on the safe side.
Clairalience means clear smelling. A person can pick up information by means of the sense of smell either literally or emotionally. For example, smelling the perfume of a deceased aunt or the cigar smoke of a beloved grandfather are quite common experiences. Clairalience works in two basic ways; you can actually get the psychic/intuitive hit by literally smelling a scent or pungent odour or by acknowledging the feeling that something smells (emotionally) wrong.
Claircognizance means clear knowing. It is the ability to know something without a physical explanation as to why you know it. For claircognizants, their higher self or spirit guides put information (in the form of thought) into their mind. This can be a whole load of information that is ‘downloaded’ into the mind or it can be smaller insights about people and situations here and there. It can also be an inspired idea. All claircognizance is characterised by this strong sense of knowing that goes beyond logic and by the fact that the intuitive information comes into the thinking mind, not into the heart or the mind’s eye.
Clairgustance means clear tasting. A person can taste a substance without putting anything in their mouth. It is claimed that those who possess this ability are able to perceive the essence of a substance from the spiritual or ethereal realms through taste.
I also wanted to point out that everyone can develop these gifts and some people can develop all of them. For example, my main gift is clairaudience, but I also use clairsentience, clairalience & claircognizance! I am developing clairvoyance as well, but I prefer to hear as this is much easier for me to use, so ‘seeing’ takes some practice!
I hope this has helped you all in learning more about your own gifts and what they mean.
Love Sarah ♥
